West Point Parents Club of North Texas

Activities & Events

The club meets monthly, on Sunday afternoons, at the Spring Creek Barbeque restaurant in Irving, Texas.  Our programs include dissemination of important information about West Point and local activities, occasional guest speakers, projects that support our soldiers deployed in harms way, and a “share time” where we learn about the cadets’ progress and activities. There is also a class mentoring program for support and information exchange through each of the four years our sons and daughters experience.

Examples of our programs and activities include:

  • Twice annual “boodle parties” to prepare care packages for both local cadets and deployed soldiers from our area.
  • An Ice Cream Social every June to introduce the incoming class of New Cadets and their parents to club members and current cadets just before they report to West Point on R Day.
  • An annual formal ball, during the winter leave period, organized and presented jointly by the parents of the Cadets and Midshipmen from all five US service academies.
  • Tailgate parties at local Army football games
  • Co-sponsorship of a “Tamale Tailgate” for all Texas cadets, their families and friends at one home football game at West Point.
  • Opportunities to support the local Admissions process through attendance at admissions oriented events and high school college nights
  • Joint activities with the West Point Society of North Texas including the annual Founder’s Day Dinner, an Educators Luncheon and the annual Army / Navy game watching party
